Biography

a more sophisticated one:
Ahmad Ghaddar aka Renoz is a Lebanese multidisciplinary artist based in Barcelona. His work exists at the intersection of urban art and studio practice. Originally from South Lebanon and trained at the Lebanese University, his practice has always been a deconstruction of the social and political forces that dictate our public spaces. In Beirut, this meant a clinical examination of post-civil war urban structures and the "makeshift" solution that communities create to survive systemic failures.

Since moving to Catalonia, Renoz has found that cooking and food preparation are the only practices that have provided him with a coherent framework for navigating a new environment. He has realized that culinary architecture has a profound power to preserve and communicate what borders try to erase: memory, culture, and history. His current research treats food-making as a "portable territory" for the displaced. Through this practice, he positions the kitchen as a site of resist erasure.
